Under the invitation of the British Council, the Chinese Women's Delegation led by Mme. Wan Shaofen, Vice-Chair of the Internal & Judicial Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, has paid a visit to the United Kingdom from February 18 to 25 to discuss women's reight Honourable Baroness Boothroyd, who is the only woman Speaker of the House of Commons in the history of Westminster and now a member of the House of Lords, kight Honourable Baroness Bottomley, former Cabinet Minister and now MP and Vice-chair of the British Council, hosted a farewell luncheon for the delegation. During the stay in the UK, the delegation met more than ten MPs and MSPs (Member of the Scottish Parliament), and visited many women organisations and research institutes to learn about their efforts in promoting political representation of women, including University College London, The Fawcett Society, The 300 Group, Engender, University of Edinburgh, Active Learning Centre, The Scottish Civic Forum, etc..
