Two Learns and Two Competes
Program for women to learn and to compete in the
knowledge and technical skills they have gained.
To help rural women catch up with economic development
in rural areas, ACWF began a program in
1989 for women to learn and compete in knowledge
and technical skills. This program was run by
ACWF in collaboration with 12 government departments
including the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry
of Forestry, the Ministry of Water Resources,
State Commission of Science and Technology, the
Ministry of Education, and the State Family
Planning Commission. This program aims at improving
rural women’s competence as a means of helping
them shake off poverty, by encouraging them to
learn basic knowledge and skills which will increase
their incomes.
Women’s Achievements in Their Work
In
collaboration with 13 departments including the
Ministry of Personnel, Ministry of Labor and Ministry
of Public Health, ACWF kicked off in 1991 the
“Women’s Achievements in Their Work” in nearly
all towns and cities throughout China , calling
on women to uphold the “Four Selfs” doctrine––namely
self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance and
self-improvement-- and to make achievements.
