With the support of the International Labor Organization (ILO), and implemented in accordance with the "3+1 mechanism" (the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the China Enterprise Confederation, plus the All-China Women's Federation), the project, aimed at enhancing gender mainstreaming capacity in China, was completed in April 2006.
Since the project was launched in August 2002, organizers established a national steering committee, four working groups and a network that included provincial and municipal participants. More than 1,300 officials and members of the project's partners benefited from a
series of seminars, training sessions and workshops. Several project tools were developed_including the guidance on enhancing gender mainstreaming capacity, the manual for women starting a business in town, the teaching materials on capacity building for gender mainstreaming, and the gender equality and enterprises: guidance on gender mainstreaming. Moreover, various surveys and promotional activities on gender mainstreaming were held across the country.
