Botswana Women's Delegation Visit China

  At the invitation of the All-China Women's Delegation, the 5-member Botswana Women's Delegation headed by Mrs. Jeanette Nwako, President of Botswana Council of Women, paid a visit to Beijing, Changsha, and Shanghai from May 26th to June 5th 2002. The delegation visited China Women's College, a flowers and plantlets planting village in Liuyang City, Chariman Mao's Former Residence in Shaoshan, Luo Shan Hui Guan Community in Shanghai, the Oriental Green Boat Youth Activity Center in Shanghai and Shanghai Science and Technology Gallery.

  During their stay in Beijing, Mme. Gu Xiulian, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of ACWF met with and the delegation; Mme. Hua Fuzhou, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of ACWF held a working discussion with the delegation.

  On behalf of the delegation, Mme. Nwako expressed their sincere thanks to ACWF for donating computers and sewing machines to Botswana Council of Women last year. She said that the sewing machines had been used for two training courses for women, which had empowered the local women with skills to make a living. She remarked that Chinese women are the forever friends of Botswana women and hoped to cooperate with Chinese women in more fields.


The Delegation were visiting the home of a local dab hand at planting
flowers and plantlets in Liuyang City in Hunan Province.
