the invitation of the Arab Ambassadors' Spouses'
Group, 10 staff from All-China Women's Federation
headed by Mme. Zhao Shaohua, member of the Secretariat
of ACWF, attended the lunch banquet at the Embassy
of the Arab Republic of Egypt on February 28, 2002.
During the banquet, Mrs. Nehad R. Sukayri, Chairperson
of the Group and wife of the Ambassador of the Hashemite
Kingdom of Jordan, delivered an ebullient speech.
She said that the Group, since its establishment,
had been actively engaged in promoting the friendly
cooperation with ACWF thus building a bridge of
friendship between the women of Arabian countries
and of China. She also expressed her wish to further
enhance the friendly exchanges between ACWF and
the Group as well as the friendship between Chinese
women and women in Arabian countries.
Mme. Zhao Shaohua remarked that the Arab Ambassadors'
Spouses' Group served as the friendship envoy,
making positive contributions to develop the friendly
ties between Chinese women and Arabian women.
She said ACWF appreciated very much her traditional
friendship with Arabian women and women's organizations
and would commit more efforts for its continued
development.
Among those Group members present at the banquet
were the wives of ambassadors from 17 countries
including Jordan, Libya, Somali, Palestine, Morocco,
Sudan, Mauritania, Lebanon, Qatar, Oman, Syria,
Iraq, Djibouti, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, and
Egypt.
