At the invitation of All-China Women's
Federation, the 5-member Rwanda Women's
delegation headed by Mrs. Angelina Muganza,
minister of Gender and Women in Development
of Rwanda, has visited Beijing, Xiamen and
Guangzhou from 19th to 30th November 2001.
During their visit in Beijing, Mme. Gu
Xiulian, Vice-President of ACWF met with
and hosted a banquet for the delegation
on behalf of Mme. Peng Peiyun, President
of ACWF. Mme. Feng Cui, Member of the Secretariat
of ACWF held a working conference with the
delegation and exchanged the experiences
on women and children's issues. At the provinces,
Mrs. Zhang Guoying, President of the Standing
Committee of People's Congress in Guangdong
Province and Mr. Huang Jiecheng, member
of the standing committee of the Communist
Party and Secretary-general in Xiamen City
received and offered banquets to the delegation.
The delegation has visited communities,
nursery schools, home for the elderly and
township enterprise. They went into Beijing
"Siheyuan", traditional one-store
houses with rooms on the four sides around
a courtyard and as well as rural families
in China to feel the great changes brought
about by the practice of reform and opening-up
policy. In addition, the members of the
delegation also made a tour of the Forbidden
City, the Great Wall, Gulangyu Island in
Xiamen and Chen Clan Academy in Guangzhou.
The delegation expressed their thanks
to ACWF for the invitation and the warm
hospitality, and held that the visit not
only strengthened mutual understanding and
friendship of the peoples and women in two
countries, but also offered Rwandan women
a precious study opportunity. They also
expressed their sincere thanks for the material
assistance offered by ACWF and said that
the assistance would be used to facilitate
women's development in Rwanda. In the meantime,
They extended their warm invitation, asking
Chinese women's delegation to visit Rwanda
in 2002.
