Under the invitation
of All-China Women's Federation, the 4-member
Gabon women delegation headed by Mme. Victoire
Duboze, President of Women's Union of Gabon
Democratic Party visited Beijing, Yunnan
Province and Zhejiang Province from 10th
to 20th October. The visit aimed to strengthen
friendship, promote exchanges and construct
partnership between women and women's organizations
of China and Gabon.
Mme.
Qian Zhengying, deputy Chairperson of the
Chinese People's Political Consultative
Conference met with the delegation and hosted
a banquet for them. A working conference
was also held between the delegation and
ACWF to exchange experience on women affairs,
including activities for rural women to
combat poverty. The delegation visited Chinese
Children's Activity Center, Spring Bud classes,
greenhouses, flower markets, handicraft
training courses, a fruit processing factory,
a garment enterprise, etc.
The Chef said, "we have learned a
lot during the visit, and the Chinese women's
experiences give us a lot of inspiration
and confidence in our work for the women.
Gabon is an under-development country. Our
people is determined to change their life,
but they lack technology and experiences.
Only with technology in hand can we be the
master of our own country instead of the
slaves of economy. " The delegation
were very interested in the agricultural
techniques specially applied by the local
women.
The delegation expressed their sincere congratulations
to Chinese women. They noted that in China,
the concept of "equality between men
and women" had been deeply rooted among
the people, and that Chinese women participated
side by side with men in the state affairs,
while the achievements of Chinese Women's
federations were recognized by both Chinese
government and the society. The delegation
were deeply impressed that during the visit,
many male local leaders highly praised the
women's contributions to the local economic
development. The chef said that Gabonese
men should learn from Chinese men, because
only with the joint efforts of men and women
could the society progress.
