From Oct. 10 to 20,
2001, a 6-member delegation headed by
Mr. C. B. Sung, Chairman of the 1990 Institute
from the United States visited Shanghai,
Lijiang, Kunming and Beijing at the invitation
of the All-China Women's Federation. Mme.
Gu Xiulian, the Vice President and member
of the Secretariat of the ACWF had a meeting
with the delegation during their staying
in Beijing. The delegation had in-depth
discussions with the ACWF and women's
federations in other cities and they also
visited projects of embroidery skill training
workshop for ethnic women, cow-raising
households, flower planting greenhouses
and Spring Bud classes in high school.
The
delegation appraised highly on the complete
networking system of the ACWF and its grassroots-oriented
working style. They committed at present
that the 1990 Institute would donate 200,000
yuan RMB for 2 poor and water-wanting villages
in Yunnan to build 2 water-tanks. They also
offered in their own initiative of fellowships
for 5 girl-tudents in the Spring Bud Classes
in Kunming who are poor but enthusiastic
on commonweal and successful their study
to complete their college education.
The
Delegation were visiting the house of a
farmer of Naxe nationality in Lijiang,Yunnan
