Under the invitation of Russian Women's Union and the State Committee on Women of Azerbaijan, a Chinese Women Delegation of 4 led by Mme. Shen Shuji, Vice-president and member of the Secretariat of All-China Women's Federation, paid a friendly visit to Russia and Azerbaijan from June 4th to 15th 2000.
　　During the visit, the delegation got to learn about the conditions of women, women NGOs, government policies on women issues, women in politics, social and economic development as well as problems facing women in the two countries. The delegation also explored possibilities of future co-operation with women organisations of the two countries. When visiting Azerbaijan State College of Administration, the delegation made a presentation on the Development of Chinese Women and the Role of Local Women Organisations, briefing on the measures taken by the Chinese government to improve the status of women, and the highly effective activities carried out by ACWF to safeguard women's rights and interests. More than one hundred women leaders from governmental departments and different women organisations came to the presentation.
　　The Chinese Women Delegation's visit had laid a good foundation for future contacts and co-operation with women organisations in Russia and Azerbaijan.
