Niger
Women's delegation in China
|
At the invitation of All-China Women's
Federation, the 8-member Niger women delegation
headed by Mme. FOUMAKOYE, minister of social
development, population, women promotion
and children protection of Niger have visited
Beijing, Yinchuan and Shanghai from 16th
to 27th May. ,Mme. HAMA Zeinabou and the
Ambassador of Niger in Chine are among the
delegation. The visit is a return-visit
to the official visit of the Chinese Women's
delegation in 2000, aiming to strengthen
the friendship, promote the exchanges and
construct the partnership between women
and women's organizations of our two countries,.
In Beijing, Mme. Peng Peiyun, deputy Chairperson
of the NPC Standing Committee and president
of ACWF have met the delegation and hosted
a dinner for them. A working discussion
is also held between the delegation and
ACWF in exchanging experience on women affairs
including activities for rural women fighting
against the poverty. In Yinchuan, the delegation
has visited some micro-credit projects of
rural women; In Shanghai, they have found
out the great changes taken places during
last ten years, and seen the different features
of development between the east and west
parts of China.
The delegation said they had learned a
lot during the visit, and were deeply impressed
by the strategy that the region becoming
prosperous first need to help the poor to
realize the goal of prosperity to all. When
they visited the women micro-credit projects
in Ningxia, they were very interested in
the agriculture techniques specially used
in the arid area by the local women. The
delegation also expressed that the visit
has inspired them a lot, and they'll try
to use the Chinese experiences in their
respective works when they go back home
so as to promote the development of Nigerian
women.
