A representative of International Liaison Department of ACWF joined a visiting group to Vietnam for the work on a project against trafficking and abuse of women and children. The visit from May 7th to 11th was organized by the Ministry of Public Securities and financially supported by UNICEF. The group learned about the progress achieved and barriers encountered on the prevention of trafficking on women and children by the governments and women's organizations in Vietnam, and examined the possibility of bilateral cooperation in this area.
The project against trafficking and abuse of women and children creates a new sphere under the framework of ACWF's cooperation with UNICEF for the year 2001 and 2005. As stated in the five-year project plan, activities of different kinds will be initiated in Sichuan and Guangxi provinces to enforce measures for the trafficked or abused women and children to be supported, protected, aided and recovered.
