ĦĦĦĦUpon the invitation
by the Ministry of Gender Equality of ROK,
a 12-member Chinese Women Delegation headed
by Mme. Peng Peiyun, Vice Chairperson of
the Standing Committee of NPC, President
of All-China Women's Federation attended
High Level Women Leaders' Conference in
NEA proposed by H. E. Mme. First Lady Lee
Hee-ho on May 7-9, 2001. High level women
leaders from China, Japan and Korea participated
in the conference. Chinese delegation includes
Mme. Li Shuzheng, Deputy Director of Foreign
Affairs Specialist Group of NPC, Mme. Liu
Yazhi, Vice president of ACWF, Deputy president
of Social Welfare Foundation, Mme. Huan
Guoying, Deputy Chair of Chinese People's
Association for Peace and Disarmament, and
Mme. Feng Cui, Member of Secretariat of
ACWF. Mme. Miki Mutsuko, spouse of former
Prime Minister Mr. Mutsuko, Mme. Shimizu
Sumiko, member of House of Councilors and
4 professors from various universities from
the Japanese side and over 100 participants
from Korea, including Mme Han Myung-sook,
Minister of Gender Equality, Mme. Ha Young
Ae, Deputy President of Korean National
Council of Women, and Mme. Jang Ha-jin,
President of Korean Women's Development
Institute participated in the Conference.
Three topics were discussed during the conference:
the Role of Women in Gender Mainstreaming,
Women's Role in Northeast Asian Peace-Building,
and Women's Task and Prospects for Women's
Cooperation in Northeast Asia. Seoul Declaration
on Women emphasizing on peace-building,
unity and cooperation was adopted.
