April 24 to April 26 in 2001, Ms. May Wong,
Project Team Leader of Canadian International
Development Agency, Mr. Michel Gagnon, First
Secretary, Development Section of Canadian
Embassy in China, and Ms. Diane Tyler, Project
Co-Team Leader of "China-Canada Women's
Law Project", and other officials monitored
the Institutional Training and Training
of Grassroots Trainers under the "China-Canada
Women's Law Project" in Huanghua City
(Rural Area). The senior lead trainers used
the participatory training methods which
are suitable for adults, such as case study,
role-play and group discussion. In a relaxed
and active atmosphere, the trainees learned
the basic legal knowledge on gender awareness,
rights related to marriage and family, property,
labour, person, culture and education, which
left a deep impression to the Canadian guests.
The Canadian group randomly selected several
trainees to talk with after class, to know
about their feelings and comments on effectiveness
of the training. Apart from that, they also
had a discussion with the senior lead trainers
for their understanding and views on the
project.
