On April 24-28, Gu Xiulian, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of ACWF, headed ACWF delegation to Singapore at the invitation of International Women's Forum (IWF) and attended IWF Global Conference as a special guest. Gu spoke at the opening panel entitled "building nations through successful alliances". She gave a briefing on the progress of Chinese women in political and economic participation and the pivotal role women played in national development. She also discussed with participants issues like financing women's income-generating activities, and introduced ACWF experience of utilizing micro-credit schemes for women's poverty alleviation and entrepreneurship. While in Singapore, Gu met with Luz Lajous, IWF new President, , and hold talks with Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Community Development and Sports of Singapore. ACWF delegation also met with leading members of Singaporean women's groups and institutions including Singapore Council of Women's Organizations.
