masters of the State and society. He said the Chinese Government
has attached great importance to women's development and progress

through which to accelerate social development. He stressed

in State political, economic and social life.

has carried through policies relating to equal participation
of men and women and promoted common development benefiting
both genders when working out various policies and regulations.
According to this principle, citizens participate equally
in State affairs and social life regardless of their gender.
The guarantee of the basic State policy of equality between
men and women has optimized the social environment for women's
development and further improved women's rights and interests
in work and employment. That goes for access to economic resources,
education, participation in State and social affairs, policy
making, healthcare, right of the person, and legal rights
in marriage and the family. Being a fundamental State policy
for the promotion of social development, equality between
men and women has guided social trends of thought and standardized
social behaviour. Along with social progress and changes in
people's concepts, equality between men and women is becoming
a mainstream social ideology.
